Important Appointment Information
Your pet is coming to the clinic for radiographs that may involve sedation or general anesthesia. It is important that you read and follow the instructions below prior to your appointment.
The night before the procedure:
You may feed your pet up until 8 pm. Please do not offer any food or treats after 8 pm.
Water may be left down all night and morning.
Please give all medications the night before the procedure.
The morning of the procedure:
Remember no food or treats! This is important and reduces the risk of vomiting.
If your pet is taking medications, please check with our office regarding administration of medications prior to the procedure and anesthesia.
Water is always allowed.
Please take all dogs for a walk so they have an opportunity to use the bathroom.
Please allow 10-15 minutes for check-in once you arrive at the clinic.
Pre-surgical bloodwork
Pre-surgical bloodwork is always recommended before general anesthesia. If your pet has had bloodwork within the last 2 months this may be sufficient, but in some cases, the veterinarian may want to repeat bloodwork on the day of surgery. Staff will inform you if your pet is required to have bloodwork done at the time of the procedure.
Home Time
Procedure time can vary from 1 hour - 3 hours + depending on whether or not your pet was sedated or put under anesthesia and how long they take to recover. We will give you a call when your pet’s procedure is completed. If you are looking for an update, please feel free to call the office at any time.
Please call us if you have any questions.
